About Us

Sodbury Home Surveys is owned and run by Matthew Gardiner. Matthew is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 18 years' experience in property and surveying. Beginning his career on the drawing board, Matthew quickly found that exploring buildings was much more interesting than simply drawing them, so embarked on a career as a surveyor, qualifying as a full chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2017.

After working in numerous small and national property and construction consultancies, Matthew founded Sodbury Home Surveys in 2020, wanting to focus on the quality of client service instead of churning out large numbers of meaningless surveys. Now, Matthew's focus is on developing Sodbury's survey products to provide accurate, clear advice for the best value to our customers.

When not exploring buildings old and new, Matthew is a keen writer and co-owns a bookshop with his wife in Chipping Sodbury (Sodbury Book Garden). He also enjoys music and nature, and can often be found walking his springer spaniel Hubble in local green spaces in South Gloucestershire and beyond.
